What you are seeing is that some hosts who use channel managers use the service fee model where the host pays all the service fees, so guests don't see a separate guest service fee on their bookings. Instead of just paying the 3% host fee, those hosts are covering the host fee as well as the guest fee.
That means those hosts have to raise their prices to cover those extra fees if they want to make the same amount of money as when they were only paying the 3%. So in the end, the guests are really paying the same in total as when the guest fee was paid by the guest.
It's just a marketing ploy- guests like it better when they can see the total booking cost when searching, rather than being surprised by a hefty service fee amount when they enter their dates. And if they think that means they are paying less, that's an illusion.
It's like hotels- the customer doesn't see a separate line item for cleaning fees, but that doesn't mean the hotel owner is paying the cleaners out of his pocket- it's factored into the nightly rate.
