I had a guest text me yesterday in the morning one hour before he was suposed to check in saying that he is canceling his 2 week vacation. I texted him back to cancel the reservation but no reply, the reservation is still active, I contacted airbnb to free up my calendar, but they also say they can't do anything... So what am I suposed to do? I have strict cancelation policy so no problem about payment, but what happens after the resevation expires, can the no show also give me a review?
Maybe you want to offer him a partial refund in return for a cancellation? If your guest doesn't get a refund (strict cancellation policy), he has no incentive to cancel, right?
Hi @Drago1,
They will certainly want to cancel the booking at some point so should come back to you. Certainly don't cancel from your end as it'll be a black mark against your account and you'll have to explain the situation.
Maybe formally lodge a Resolution ticket with Airbnb and follow those steps.

At worst, enjoy the 'free' money.

No-shows can't give you a review. Save the text so you can prove he didn't show. My impression is that AirBnB will take the review down (this is also true if the reviewer turns out not to be the person who stayed there, ie they booked for someone else.
