Occupancy Tax

Hello Co-Hosts!

I'm Emily from Kennebunkport Maine and have just learned of an "occupancy tax" requirement based on my short term rentals. (Shame on me for not looking into it and being proactive). My tax dates back to 2015, an am now stuck with a tax bill + the interest, boooo. How are others collecting this occupany tax required when we aren't allowed the feature for billing our guest for it through Airbnb? I feel it ackward to collect in person and feel people may be blind sided when I request it after a booking. Any input on this and how you all handle it would be greatly apprciated.

Thanks so much,

Emily

Just add it on to your nightly rate - if it's 10% then increase your prices by that amount and hold 10% of each  booking paid for your tax bill
