Posting your room on other sites

Hello my name is Danielle and I am new Airbnb. I was just wondering if anyone post the space in any other sites like booking.com. If so what program or app do you use to sync you calendar so there are no double booking. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciate. Thank you in advance.

Hi Danielle, welcome to Airbnb hosting and I hope your hosting career brings you as much success as it has to many of us here.

And speaking of 'us'.....many of us list on multiple platforms, not just with Airbnb and the decision to sync our listings between platforms is a complicated one and differs from host to host.

As you have one listing and are relatively new to hosting I would not suggest you use a syncing app!

I made a decision to list on another platform last December and used the sync facility available which you will find in your listing editing section. More about that later!

Within 2 weeks I had a double booking because of some issue with the sync program. I decided at that point to manually control bookings between platforms. I have both Airbnb and Stayz apps on my phone as well as my computer and no matter where I am, if a reservation comes in, I immediate block those dates on the other platform, and Danielle, it works just fine. I have also set my booking preferences up so that I accept Instant bookings on Airbnb but, all  reservations  must be via an enquiry request on Stayz so that a booking won't slide in on me that I am not aware of.

Once you have got a few stays under your belt and feel comfortable with the way the platform runs and you fully understand the rules surrounding bookings you can try syncing your calendars by going to your listing editing page and in the top scroll line slide across to 'Availability'!

Sync calendars will be the last item on this page.

Follow as per this screenshot!

I hope this helps you Danielle.

Cheers.....Rob

If only one listing, my booking.com manager says the best way to sync is by hand.

I follow her advice and think that is enough, because price set is differnt and we have to offer higher price in booking.com. We found 95% users are from Airb site so far:-)

Thank you so much for the advice I appreciate. I was thinking of listing my place on booking.com so this was good information 😊

@Danielle735:
We list across HomeAway (VRBO), AIrbnb and TripAdvisor (FlipKey). We find that entering the sync links into each platform for every other platform has worked well, however we always manually block off Airbnb as it sometimes does not pick up the sync. HomeAway and Airbnb are instant books, while we do not offer IB on TripAdvisor. We tried Booking.com last fall, but 2 of the 3 bookings we received from them were double bookings even though I had manually blocked out the days on Booking.com. We had to cancell that account immediately.

Hi Tim and Holly thank you so much for the advice. I am going to give it a try. Perhaps for know just list my place on one more site and see how I manage. Thank you for taking the time to answer my question. This was helpful 😊

I do the same..manually blocking calenders on sites. Our listing is on several sites, like booking.com, flipkey, agoda, but all have to send request before booking...I like to be in control. We also use Facebook and own website, to get our "name" known.

For some unknown reason, Agoda yesterday, confirmed a booking, even our listing is setup with "request first"... and its not a simple process to cancel on Agoda. Far better on AirBnB.

Thank you so much for the advice. It’s seems so far that most people manually take care of the bookings instead of syncing calendars. I will definitely take this advice when I decide to list my place in another site. Thank again for taking the time to respond to my question 😊

@Teresita-Java0  How do u set request to book on Booking.com that new to me ??

@Danielle735  my advice will be to avoid double booking subscribe to a Channel Manager less risk of having a double booking and having an issue with ur calendar they synchronize across listing, some are quiet affordable and take out all headache of double booking if u wish to advertise on diff platform.

@Marie82 Sorry my mistake, it was HomeAway. I never finish registration on booking.com 'cos "request" was not possible. I also temporary removed it from HomeAway 'cos of some changes there, like NO payout to Paypal. Even there is some issues with AirBnB, its still better than most other sites.

Thank you for letting me know. Do you recommendation for which channel manager I can subscribe too. I would be concerned about double booking for sure. That would be horrible for guest and host. Thank you for the heads up 😊
