When you pre-approve a guest, you can block other guests from instant booking. However, if your property is also listed on some other platform than Airbnb, the dates are not blocked in the synced calendar, so that there is a risk of somebody else booking your property on the non-Airbnb platform during the dates you want to block for the would-be Airbnb guest. Furthermore, possibly, if the would-be Airbnb guest accepts your pre-approval before the calendars get in sync, you could end up with a double booking, and thus pay cancellation penalties.
On the other hand, if you block the dates on the other platform, as soon as the calendars sync, it will appear that the reservation on Airbnb is not possible, and the pre-approved reservation is cancelled.
Is there a way to avoid this? If not, I would suggest that the Airbnb tech staff consider that when you block the dates for a pre-approval, the dates should appear as blocked on the calendar, rather than just for instant booking.
