Refreshing linen, towels etc.

I am a new host ,with my first guests arriving this afternoon. My question (among many) is when you supply linen, towels etc and they are staying for 5 nights, do I change and wash them while they are still here? How do people do it if they’re not on site? Thank you in advance Jenny

What I do after 5 days is leave a laundry basket with fresh towels and note to the guest to put their used towel in the basket and leave it in a specified location for me to retreive.   I do live on site, so it's easy for me to do.   You could leave extra towels in a cupboard or more secluded location and then message them after 5 days noting that more towels are located in that area.

Hi - we are new to hosting. I really like your suggestion. I would like to know how many towels per guest you start them off with? We have come across a troubling (for us) situation. A young couple is in our motorhome for4 nights total. I left them 2 sets of towels each (1 set = 1 towel, 1 wash cloth, 1  hand towel).  My husband went in to check the levels of the holding tanks today a nd noticed all the towels were left in a damp heap on the bedroom floor. They have 2 more nights to stay. I think we have to provide them w another set of towels each, but I really don't want to provide 2 more sets.    

Recommendations?

for a five night stay I do a mid-stay service, run the vac around, quick bathroom clean etc. Just cursory, it is hard to clean with stuff around which isn't mine. I offer this beforehand for guests, it is a free optional. We agree for them to contact me on a day which suits them, I go in when they have gone out. An opportunity to leave fresh flowers and a treat if you wish too. If they don't want a service, I unlock the laundry so they can access the vac (what if they break a glass, spill sugar etc) and dump their towels in there. I tell them not to do the laundry, just help themselves to new towels etc. Five unserviced days is a long time if guests arew cooking, crumbs etc. Many guests of mine go out for meals which is great.

Most of my guests are 1-3 nights, but I do get the odd 5-10 nighter too.

We have a 6 day max for bookings and most are 1-2 days. We aren't techinically on site but we live in the neighborhood. 

Towels: What works well for us is to leave one full set of towels for each booked guest for nights 1-3. If they book 4, 5, or 6 nights we leave them with a second full set of towels (though that could end up being ALL of our towels). 

Sheets: We don't change them and we don't leave them an extra set. 6 nights might be at the end of the "acceptable" range for a set of sheets but we rarely get guests for that length of time.

Exceptions: The guys in town for a marathon that involved crawling through mud and scaling towers and famillies with small children. For them, we would leave extra towels and one extra set of cheapo sheets.

When I have longer stays, 4 nights or longer, I just leave extra towels and a second set of sheets right from the start so they don't run out. Then I have a couple back up that I can give them in case they request clean ones.  But our unit has a washer/dryer so really they can wash the towels if they wanted too.
