After confirmation of booking ( I am new Host) what does SEND OR REQUEST MONEY BUTTON mean?

In 3yrs of hosting I have never used it.

It would appear to be, to send money to or request money from your guest. if simple things change.

i.e. they want a late check out & its an extra £20 so you would request £20 or WiFi is unavailable for 4hrs, guest complains, you send the guest a £10 discount.

I have the same question.

I noticed that airbnb charge after the first night. But at my receipt, there's a word said "PAID", while we will travel on 2019.

And I am trying to figure out the function of the SEND or REQUEST MONEY BUTTON on that page for guest, not the host.

Should I click send to pay now to the host? or to airbnb?

I've used this to send a refund to a guest once because my Air Conditioner was not working, so I did not feel it was fair to charge them full price.
