Suffolk County New York Occupancy Tax

I believe that Air BnB collects the tax and remits it to the state, but I am not sure.  Can someone please confirm?  Is there somewhere in the gross earnings or other financials that shows the tax is paid?  Do I need to file anything with the government?

Simulating a booking on your listing does not generate a tax amount, so at the moment Airbnb is not collecing it directly from the guest. You can also consult:

Hi Christine,

I am currently researching this as well. Had to hire a Libertarian Atty (former Town atty)  to fight for my rights to live with anyone I please in the home legally reside in. 8 smoke detectors & 3 smoke /co2 combos & I was fined for NO CO2 on 2nd floor. Inspector took NOT ONE Photo that included my of my ceilings to show co2?smokes on each floor AND a smoke detector in each and every singe room!!  Do NOT TRUST THE TOWN.. Do not let them in your home without  search warrant. I usually rent long term and  claim my rental income on my taxes, but want to make sure they cant play games if I rent to someone short term.
