Third party privacy and police

Hi,

I'm currently dealing with a very worrying situation. While some guests were staying with us, an incident occurred involving the guests and one of our neighbours.

The neighbours now wish to involve the police and have asked me to provide the name and address of the airbnb guest.

The guests refute that any offence was comitted, and are not wiling to provide any information at all, and have told me that if I give any information that I am in possession of (username, phone number) that I will be in breach of airbnb's privacy policy and I may have my account suspended or be banned.

I would like to provide as much information to my neighbours as possible, but do not want to break any laws or lose my airbnb business.

Does anyone know what information I am legally allowed to share, and to whom?

Does anyone know how I could go about getting an official position statement from airbnb itself?

I would extremely grateful for any advice form an informed position.

Many thanks,

Joe

@Joe171:

You really need to consult with Airbnb directly about this matter. Here's the contact information. Scroll down to your country's number.

If your neighbour involves the police and the police ask you in relation to a criminal matter, I would presume you would need to give them whatever information you have.

I agree give Airbnb a call and ask their advice. Tell them your guest is threatening you with losing your host status if you comply with a request for their contact information.

Hosts have reported here though that Airbnb are not forthcoming with guest information even when there is clear evidence of damage to a hosts own property. So I can't imagine they would be forthcoming regarding a dispute with a neighbour.

At the end of the day you know your neighbour and you don't know your guest.
