I do both airbnb STR and airbnb experiences.
Today, an overnight guest checked out and I expected the $160 paypal payout around 2pm as usual.
Also, today I had a booking for 4 people for $45 each for my experience. Airbnb takes 20% of this so I only end up getting $37 per person. This is usually paid out the following day around 7pm. However only 2 people showed up. Although the guests did not ask about a $90 refund for the 2 people, I offered. Since there is absolutely no way for a host to refund money to a guest on the experiences website or app, I called airbnb and explained the situation. They said they would take care of it.
An hour later I get the email saying I had been paid for my last nights overnight guest. I open it and it says airbnb resolution has taken $72 of the $160 I was supposed to get! I'm baffled by this and call airbnb. Evidently, airbnb decided to take the $72 experience booking money from my already completed overnight booking?! WTF?
They too are baffled and tell me that it shouldn't have been done this way. They should have taken the $72 from the $144 experiences payout that I will get TOMORROW!
What makes airbnb think they can take my money like this? It's very annoying.
And they probably will !!!
Just curious, does the math work out in terms of your combined payout?
linda they dont do a combined payout which is why this was so odd. They took money from an overnight stay that should have been taken from the experience.
They did pay out the $144 so I'm whole but still it was weird seeing a $72 resolution from a payout. I thought the overnight guest had complained about something and rec'd a partial refund! When it was actually the $72 being refunded to the experience guest.
