Threatening guest.

I'm a newbie and trying to overcome the learning curve.  However, I was not prepared to have a guest rent my cottage to stream live porn, leave a review with so many lies about charges, being able to wear shoes in cottage, etc.  When she rented she stated she wanted to use the cottage as a location for a photo shoot.  She didn't tell me that a different male guest would be there every two hours and my neighbors would be seeing them videoing sex acts on the outside of the house. Starting an hour after she posted lies about me and the cottage she started calling me and trying to extort me to come back and stay free so she could film more and to pay her money.  After I blocked her number she started calling from other phone numbers and having other men to call and harass me. I keep blocking numbers. I have called Airbnb twice to see what they can do to make sure this doesn't happen to another host with no reply.  Lesson in never giving out phone number for sure.  Any advice to protect myself from this happening again would be helpful. Thanks!

That is great advice.  Thank you so much!  I'm very discombobulated about the whole situation.  Another host pointed me in the direction of some of her "pictures" and I found hundreds more out there.  It came to the point that I just can't look anymore because there's so much posted.  I did not sign a release for her to film nor for the photographs.  It's sickening to see my beautiful, one of a kind headboard, out there in porn land.  It's been a week and I have yet to hear back from Airbnb about how to prevent her from threatening other hosts or booking their properties.  6 phones calls have been placed to no avail.

My rental contract says no images for commercial use so that I at least would have a shot at having images taken down. (If I found out) and I also get real ID so that I know who to sue if need be.

Your listing says that they can bathe outdoors so maybe she thought outdoors was free game for nakedness??

an FYI to all hosts that “I must have good internet signal” might mean “I’m a porn streamer” 😞

I know. I so wish her profile had been populated on Airbnb before I rented to her. It would’ve been a dead giveaway. Her profile description didn’t show up until after she was already in my cottage.

@Lisa0

Don't be too hard on yourself. Many hosts would have been tricked by her deception.

Chalk it up to bad luck, consider how to prevent in the future and realized most guests are plain old good tourists.

One of the reasons I wait a few days before writing the review. Something else you might want to consider.

Sorry you had such an unfortunate experience early on. I had a horrendous experience the first month I hosted (let's just say that today I think of these guests as "The Blood Spewers"; I received a lot of support here on the forum, and also from Customer Support - That was back in the day when you could get great service and the support people seemed to truly care (I don't find this to be true today). I decided to keep hosting and am glad I did; it was a freak experience and nothing that awful ever happened again. Hopefull this will also be true for you.

I dont belive AirBnB will do anything against your guest. Ive had one guest threaten and attempt to blackmail me. All I think they will do is have a talk about it amongst themselves and then let the bully carry on with nothing against him.( They most likely wont even do that.)
