Hi everyone in Belgium. I followed a course on how to set up and run a gite and have been hosting for 3 years now. On this course I learnt that by providing sheets and towels you are liable to pay VAT "prestation de services". Apart from the financial implication, it involves the hassle of making yourself a small business with VAT number. If you provide no services then you are simply taxed as any other landlord. However, Airbnb is now requiring all hosts to supply sheets and towels. I have been supplying them all along. But now that Airbnb has made it compulsory are we more likely to be checked by the authorities? Any thoughts?
