Weigh in on short-term rental licensing in Minneapolis

The City of Minneapolis is considering stricter regulation of short-term rental properties, such as those offered through AirBnB. The comment period is open now, and there's a hearing at City Hall next Tuesday, October 10th. You can submit written comments to Grant.Wilson@minneapolismn.gov before then.

Can anyone share how similar regulations have affected them in other cities? Are there other hosts in the Twin Cities interested in taking action to preserve hosts rights to participate in house-sharing?

I really wished that I had seen this earlier and I would have had my neighbor and I go to the city council meeting.

I fear this sort of thing, I'm a building inspector and I would never work for the city of Minneapolis. They are going to want to regulate it as much as they can.

I'll watch this and see what happens. In the mean time I will email Andrew, my council member and ask him to reconsider any harsh regulations or fees.
