What are the most unique hosting ideas you’ve seen?‌‌

Screenshot 2021-03-15 at 15.12.04.png

Hello everyone!

I hope you've all had a great weekend.

Over the past years, I've seen some amazing ideas from hosts to make hosting easier or perhaps even enhance their homes.

I am sure that many of us have probably taken a peek at another listing to see if they can make some improvements themselves (this is what I did when I just started hosting).

For instance, I've once heard someone saying that he had the idea of giving one of his rooms the same look as the tubes here in London and thought that this was a very unique idea :).

Having said the above, made me wonder what the most unique hosting ideas are that you have seen? Have you implemented some of these ideas in your own home?

Feel free to truly share ANY unique ideas that you've seen!

Thanks,

Quincy

Hi @Jen-and-Garrett0, perhaps later when things ease a bit more 😃? Do you have any particulary unique places you'd like to visit in the future?

@Quincy   I began hosting because of places I booked previously,   However since becoming a host, the places I have chosen to stay have not been as good as the prior ones.  I'm not sure if my exceptions have changed or my selection process is failing me.

Some things I put in my listing because of my previous stays include:  Fluffy towels, quality coffee, games, lots of pillows and blankets, quality shampoo,  toothbrush and toothpaste, comfortable beds.  These things are not expensive and seem to be appreciated by the guests.

I bookmark listings all the time of ones I would like to stay in when I'm in the area. Recently Ive been drawn to the tree house or glamping listings.  Not sure how I would do, but they look so fun!  We have an upcoming trip to a house on a local river for fishing for my son and husband, really looking forward to it.

@Quincy ,

I search and discover from the YouTube Channel “ The Amazing Skylodge Adventure  Suites”

It is my desire vacation destination, sleep in the glass pods of condo’s nest, 1,200 feet up the side of mountain in Peru, Sacred Valley

A transparent luxury capsule that hangs from the top of a mountain in the Sacred Valley, Peru.

Located in the Sacred Valley of Cuzco, Peru, the exclusive Skylodge Adventure Suites offers travelers the chance to sleep within a completely transparent hanging bedroom, that allows you to appreciate the impressive view of this magic and mystic valley.

To sleep at Skylodge, people must climb 400 mt. of Via Ferrata or hike an intrepid trail through ziplines. One night at this place will make the dreams come true.

Skylodge Adventure Suites came from the idea of a portaledge, or a hanging tent system used by mountain climbers for overnight stays on rock faces.The lodge is to allow travelers without serious climbing chops to feel what it’s like to have a mountain adventure, as well as for accomplished climbers to enjoy.

Skylodge is composed of three exclusive capsule Suites with a total capacity of 8 people. The hanging transparent capsule suites are situated at the top of the 1,200 ft mountain with a 300 degree view of the majestic Sacred Valley. Hand crafted out of aerospace aluminum and weather resistant polycarbonate, each suite comes complete with four beds, a dinning area and a private bathroom.

The design and features of each suite provides the travelers with first class service and complete comfort, alternative lighting system consists of four interior lamps and a reading light all powered by solar panels that store energy in batteries. Each suite has a private bathroom separated from the bedroom by an insulated wall. Inside is a dry ecological toilet and sink, where travelers  can still enjoy the gorgeous views through the 1.8 meter diameter dome. The dome also has curtains for privacy from the curious gaze of passing condors (your sky neighbors). Fine quality mattresses, cotton sheets, down pillows, and quilts ensure a warm and pleasant night 400 meters from the ground.

When it comes to dining, the guides are also chefs who prepare locally inspired meals in the sky-high hanging kitchen: think pumpkin soup, chicken and quinoa, and Peruvian Malbec wine.

The capsules themselves where the guest sleep are simply extraordinary, sleep in a romantic canopy bed with a view of the stars, on a very comfortable soft mattress and a soft, thick blanket. sleep like heaven.

Don't get me wrong, it looks incredible, and I would be able to sleep like a baby there IF it wasn't for my fear of heights. Or acrophobia, to be precise. Tricky, on the other hand, would be very happy. I suspect he wouldn't even need the guide to reach the suites @Dale711 😁

@Nick ,

Ohh..... I have forgotten Tricky is a cat !

Oh Wow! When are we going Dale? @Dale711

This is amazing. Just magical...!!! And do you know I used to fantasize about this when skiing in Megeve and Chamonix. Do you know the resorts? On taking the Teleferic up, in other resorts too, from time to time operations would halt and we'd be left swinging in the capsule. I'd find myself marvelling at the view and the peace and stillness in the absense of the grinding machinery. I wondered what it would be like to spend the night there. Also on occasion being among the last to descend to the station in the process of closing I found myself asking what would happen if someone got stranded... could they sleep in one of the stages....!!!?

I also had friends who were going ice climbing, and, but for an outstanding exam, I would have gone. It involved bivouacing on a mountain side inside the equivalent of a plastic bag....!!!!!!!!!!!!

@Mary996

Haha... it was so nice for sharing! Such an awesome place !
