What do you do if you depend on the gig economy?

This is meant as a brainstorming thread. Using a real-life situation as an example.

I have a friend who is a single mom and supports herself and her child as a bartender. She also rents out a room in her apartment through Airbnb and sells items she makes online for extra income. In the last week, her shifts were cut at her restaurant, her Airbnb reservations were canceled almost entirely and though she still has some sales in her online business, she has concerns that this, too, while dry up if this scare goes on too long.

She is currently healthy and her daughter is healthy but was sent home from school to distance-learn. She needs whatever shifts she can find for income so child care is problematic. She does not have health benefits through her job and her small cash reserve will disappear very quickly if things stay closed.

My friend's situation is not unusual. If you are a host and depend on hosting income, or have carved out some financial space from the "gig economy" what sorts of things have are you doing to help keep yourself afloat? What can we as a community do to help one another? Any ideas?
