I just got a request for one night, tonight, at 7pm. Based on her initial message and one review, I don't want to accept the request. But the check-out time for this booking will actually come before the time runs out on the accept/decline clock.
Has anyone ever tested this? Instead of declining her request, what it I don't approve until, say, 10am tomorrow, when check-out is at 11am, how does ABB tally that?
I have no problem declining as I'm uncomfortable with the guest, but has anyone been in this situation where check out comes before the 24 hour timer?
PS - I'm not actually planning on doing this! Just wondering if ABB would even allow an acceptance at that late stage...
I've never seen this but I would think that at some point (maybe after midnight) the request would say "not possible" as an inquiry does once the dates are booked by another or blocked. Maybe? I'm sure it would still count against your acceptance rate though.
Oh, she requested to book at 7 PM for tonight! 🙂
Yes, interesting question... I wonder if her request will expire at the time when your check in time ends today...... or tonight at midnight.... or when your check out ends tomorrow (11 AM) and if you would still be able to accept it later. Probably not. It could also depend on your "preparation time" and "advance notice" settings.
One thing is for sure, if you don't do anything then Airbnb can't block this night because this night is over anyway 🙂
The best would be if you contact her in the morning and tell her to withdraw her request because now is too late to check in.
Let us know how your test ended , I am curious 🙂
Well I didn't get to test anything although I'm still curious. The countdown clock continued to show I had 24 hours to respond. I actually found a sneaky way to get out of having to decline a request.
I responded to the guest that unfortunately at this late hour I wouldn't be able to accommodate her and added, "don't worry, if you withdraw your request you will not be charged."
She withdrew immediately. A little sneaky, but not untrue!
good move @Suzanne302 🙂
you know you can set your"preparation time" and "advance notice" so you can't get same day bookingso ? This is good because Airbnb needs about 24 h to check your guest account and process the payment. Same day bookings are often done by using stolen credit cards, stolen identities etc... Better avoid.
Yeah, I have mine set so they can't IB, but they can request to book same day. I usually ask a few more questions of those same day requests to make sure they're not just trying to scam a free night. I've actually had several great same day IB guests with legit reasons for needing a spot last minute.
This one may have been legit but I knew I didn't want it! I ask guests to give me the names of each guest coming and her first message simply said, "Hey. Can't wait to spend the night." Her only review said, "okay guest."
Nope!
