What's the most surprising request you've had from a guest?

Hey everyone!

We all have different needs when we go on holiday. These may stem from what you’re used to doing at home, or perhaps what you plan on doing while away. Some of these requests can feel quite “estranged” to the Host, though, so my question to you:

What’s the most surprising request you had from a guest? Did you end up fulfilling the request?

Let us know in the comments, and I look forward to reading your stories!

Sybe

Probably the snakes were  "emotional support animals"  ?

@Emiel1

You could be right, I used to see her about with a snake around her neck

@Sudsrung0 A snake! Were they going to an exposition or just traveling?

I remember a story once of someone in our hometown whose pet snake had escaped into the sewers. It may have been a rumour but I was definitely careful with using the bathroom from that point onward!

Yikes, reminds me of a news story from last year @Sybe @Sudsrung0

"A man in Austria has described the moment a 5ft (1.6m) python bit him while he was using the toilet. He was using the toilet "as usual" and only noticed the snake after it nipped him. The snake had escaped from his neighbour's apartment, where 11 snakes were being kept."

"Is it ok if I walk around your garden naked ?"

This one flummoxed me for a while because at least the guest was honest and asked the question before arriving.

But our reply was that although it is very private, we do have other guests who might not feel comfortable with that, so probably not suitable.

@Ruth413

When guest want to book our villas some ask, is it private and not overlooked? maybe the want to swim naked,

@Ruth413 I can imagine it's freeing but when you have other guests as well it may indeed be a tiny bit inappropriate. Did you recommend them a naturist beach? 😉

@Sybe Not sure if we have any of those round here.  If we do I will need to add it to my guidebook !

@Ruth413 A Google Maps search gives me the Studland Naturist Beach near Bournemouth. That could be a good future suggestion! 😃

During the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, I had a street artist staying with me asking if it would be ok if he tried some tricks (which incorporate usage of fire) in the garden @Sybe 🔥

@Quincy A risky profession, though I hope they were trained well enough to leave at least some of your garden untouched! Did they put up a performance for you?
