What the heck??? Why is there not a pet fee button?

Our rentals are very pet friendly.  I can add a cleaning fee...  an extra person fee.... a sucurity deposit.....where is the pet fee?  If there is none please tell me the reason for this.  I handle irritation much better if I know why:)  Rene

yes, please, a pet fee button!

Not being able to charge for pets is a kind of shocking considering how progressive and forward thinking Airbnb is. GET THE BUTTON.

My properties are listed in several on-line services, including AirBnb.  Other services offer explict Pet Fee inclusion in the listings so AirBnb needs to do the same for two primary reasons: 1) it's what your customers (owners) are requesting, and 2) your competition provides for it.  Please escalate this request to your development team.  Thx.

Lizzie,

I'm reading this thread because I am looking for a pet fee button. I've been a host for almot 1 1/2 years & have always been pet-friendly... however, some pets cause more clean up than others, so I'd like to add a pet fee with no easy way to do so unless I create a special offer for pet owners, etc. which isn't the handiest of options & requires extra work, whereas an additional Pet Fee button, just like the Cleaning Fee button, would solve this issue.  There are many threads about this, so there is definitely a need.

Thank you.

I would definitely advocate a pet fee option!!! I didn't intend on charging a security deposit but it seems the most practical way to cover possible pet damage...still I would hate to turn away any non-pet guests who either don't understand that the deposit isnt charged unless there is a dispute or guests who are turned off by hosts asking for security deposot in general. It seems it would simplify things overall to have the option!

@Lizzie:

Have you been able to bring up the pet fee button option up to the powers at be? It seems there is a lot of interest and it would help the hosts who are pet friendly:) Thanks!

What about a extra pet deposit instead of a single pet fee?

Did you know that along with not giving us the tools to conveniently acquire the extra cleaning costs associated with pets, Airbnb is now changing their rules not letting us charge extra fees for extra guests 2 years and under. These are by far two of the catagories (Pets, Kids) that cause the most in clean up costs. If I can not get the extra costs from the people that are causing this, I will have to raise my cleaning fees for everybody.

Airbnb you are not listening to the base that give you the ability to be a business, the homeowner.

If you stay on this path, I will have to drop you as one of my rental companies.

Now, I am forced to raise my cleaning costs for everyone here on Airbnb and the result will be less rentals from Airbnb and more on my other two rental sites. This means less revenue for you Airbnb.

I encourage everyone to show their disapproval of the choices Airbnb has taken here.

I have created a different section for the change in rules pertaining to children 2 and under here.

Jay, wondering who else you use?

David

I'm sorry I don't agree with the 2 and under deal... If they let them run thru the house with crayons in their hands they will pay for it with the deposit. You can't discriminate against people with small children. I don't think it's the same as asking for a few bucks extra for animals that create more work.

I allow dogs and well behaved children.
David

How does one control a child that stays as being well behaved or not.. Do some people look for places to stay that accept not well behaved children? Come on that sounds so old and cranky. Just say no kids if you don't want them.

I allow dogs and I board dogs through DogVacay.  My listing says no children allowed and have never had a problem.  I agree that a child fee is silly.  Allow children, charge for damage with a security deposit claim or don't allow them.  Airbnb please add a pet fee.

Get a pet fee button!

Here is a very well thought out policy on dogs from a local hotel. It doesn't charge a fee in advance however. I thought maybe if the right thing was written it would help be clearer.. Also what if it was written that a dog is considered an extra person charg at this time since there is no button and if it is clearly stated guests can just hit extra person and you will get the extra money. I have it as $50 a person after 3.
Anyway here is their language which I am going to include now:
DOG POLICY

We allow clean, well-behaved dogs to accompany our guests but a $50 cleaning charge is applied. Cats, due to the prevalence of common allergies, are not permitted.

- We must be notified in advance if you will be bringing your dog.

- Dogs are not permitted on the beds, bedding or furniture. Please bring other bedding for your pets.

- Dogs are not to be left alone in rooms or cottages.

- We ask that guest dogs not be larger than 80 pounds, and that they be clean and well-behaved (house-trained, not prone to frequent barking, biting or destruction.)

- Please be mindful of your dog's behavior. Frequent or repetitive barking, for the sake of our other guests, cannot be tolerated.

- When outside, please keep your dog leashed and clean up droppings.

- The registered guest is responsible for any damages or extra cleaning charges.
