Why do HOSTS always end up under the bus?

Airbnb just announced ANY guest can cancel penalty free for any booking within next month? How are hosts going to survive? What can we do to pay our mortgages/rents/bills.  @Susan17  @Sarah977

Completely unacceptable. Hosts were kept in the dark while automatic full refunds were being given behind our backs, I learned of it through a cancelling guest. We took the 100% burden of this, a huge loss that could have and should have been shared, to many of us this is financially devastating, how do we pay utilities and our mortgage when they continue to allow free cancellations further and further out with no end. They ALWAYS overpower our policy and we have zero control over our income, this is an eye opener for sure. I wonder if other vacation rental sites did this to their hosts?
