Why is my review of a guest public when he didn't write me a review?

Why is my review of a guest public when he didn't write me a review?

I left a guest a review which is now on his public profile - but he didn't write one for me when he stayed here. I thought reviews were only public if they are both done?

Any review goes public after 14 days.

Neither party is required to leave a review.  After 14 days any review completed goes live.

I may be wrong (and maybe another host can clarify) on this particular matter, but if a guest does not leave a review for you, Airbnb registers it as a zero star stay (terrible) which in turns affects your progress to superhost.

I have not heard this before and would be shocked if this were true.

That's absolutely not true.

Hello everyone,

I have recieved some clarification on how the reviews work which I thought would be useful to you:

- If one (either host or guest) write a review and the other doesn't, after 14 days this will be made public

- If both host and guest write a review this will go public

- If no-one writes a review or forgets, this is a real shame, but there is no 'terrible' rating, it just appears as a 0 (zero) signalling no review left

I hope this helps.

Thanks, Lizzie

Hi @Lizzie,

What do you mean by, "there is no "terrible" rating, it just appears as a 0 (zero) signalling no review left"?

Yeah what does Lizzie mean? Her answer is even more confusing and somewhat disconcerting!
