This is a bit long winded but please bear with me and I will explain.

For reasons I won't bother going into I was looking at listings in Manchester and came across a listing that alarmed for a number of reasons.

1.  The host asked potential guests not to contact him through airbnb but should look at his photo gallery for contact details.  The first photograph showed the host holding up a poster giving an e-mail address!  He specifically requested that guests should not contact him in any other way and definitely not through the airbnb site.

2.  The host asked that guests should pay by cash on arrival for a discount. He preferred cash transactions.

3.  The host (being a single male) did not want male guests or couples, only single females although if they had a child with them that was acceptable.

4.  Most of the photographs for the listing showed the host at various locations and he included in his information that he was divorced and single but looking for the right woman in the future.  He also stated that guests were welcome to bring alcohol to his home and share a glass of wine or beer with him - followed by a smiley face.

I might be jumping at all sorts of wrong conclusions but alarm bells just went off when I read all of the above.  The end result was I flagged this listing and it has now been removed.  The last thing I want to do is interfer with other hosts and their listings but this just seem soooo wrong on so many levels.

Hi Zandra, how goes the travelling?  My first concern was the photo of his showing his e-mail to go aroung airbnb but when I read further into his listing it gave me a bad feeling.  Obviously I don't know if the guy is a creep or not but I would hate to think I did nothing and some poor girl came unstuck - if you know what I mean.

I would like to think that we look out for each other whenever possible and if it was my daughter I would hope that she could stay somewhere safe.

This is completely unsafe and he is a creep. It is also against AIRBNBs rules. He is not an Airbnb host just a pervert trying to lure woman to his house. He needs to be reported. Immediately. Feel free to post his info here so we can all report him.

I found an email in my span folder yesterday, apparently somebody has inherited $2,000,000 and wants me to help by banking it.

I would put this listing into a similar category, I do not know anyone who would seriously have booked with this guy.

Well, @Sharon114 you really stirred up the group here!  I know you were seeking opinions but you have also alerted the legit hosts to the responsibility to report to Air BNB if we have concerns about a listing.  Then it is up to Air BNB to take action.  Well done!

Thanks Linda, I feel now that I definintely did the right thing.  Stupid really but I just felt guilty somehow and that I was overreacting.

@Sharon114   @Stan-And-Juris0......Thanks Sharon, you were not 'seriously over-reacting' .....You did exactly the right thing in reporting this 'listing' to Airbnb and to us!

This platform works because we all try to do the right thing! If it was acceptable to do what the person behind this listing does then the whole platform would fall apart and we would all suffer!

There are plenty of dishonest turkeys out there who will try to exploit the good work of thousands of others.....but, fortunately there are just as many out there like you who are prepared to make a statement for the common good.....Thanks Sharon, and all the best to you....Cheers.....Rob
