I think there should be 0-1 / 2-4 / 5-12 age choice

 0-4 need a home that is fully baby/ toddler / young child friendly

so i think we need more age choices

if you agree please copy paste this and send it to Airbnb care specialist for the more we request for change = results

thank you Lee Vancouver BC Host

I agree, I don't want toddlers roaming randomly around my house and/or babies making baby noises to disturb other guests. However I would be quite happy to host parents with children aged, say, 7 or older but the only option is no kids under 12. It's far too 'blanket'

Absolutely, This has been suggested before (by me, for instance). Too broad!

The people who came up with the present age designations obviously have zero experience with children. A walking 2 year old is NOT considered an "infant" by anyone but Airbnb. And a three year old is not able to understand what is and is not allowed in the way that a 7 year old can. I agree totally.

Totally agree. I have a listing that has really steep, exposed stairs. I am very hesitant about a toddler crawling up and down these stairs but have no problem hosting infants or older children. Sadly, I have to use the no children allowed rule and just hope that some parents with infants will contact me anyway.

I also think there should be an option to select no under 18s (or no under 16s) if you don't want to host children.

An Airbnb Rep explained to me that they classify anyone over 12 as an 'adult' for payment purposes, i.e. charge the same as adults, but clearly a 13-year-old is a child, not an adult.

I have selected no infants and no children, but there is no option to select no children older than 12, so I get so many requests and bookings from people with kids and then have to pursuade them to cancel. Some people get upset and I recently had one guest get quite irate about it.

Of course I specify in my house rules that I don't accept under 18s, but that makes little difference as most people don't read the full listing or rules. If they have a way to book despite those rules, they will.

@Huma0

I agree with the proposal, but on different grounds. For the first year of hosting I did not allow any children, nor 0-2 years, neither 2 years up. Then I changed my mind, and I have seen so careful parents, and such pleasant and with good behavior children. But... it is a burden for us, the hosts to prepare the flat for them. We are not hotels who are having, say 2 high chairs and 2 or three special cots for eventual guests with children - for the smaller ones who are staying free of charge - in a hotel having, say 100 guests at a time. It is not the same burden for us as it is for hotels. Yes, we have to buy only one cot, but also children books and toys, children linen, bath, ect.   I do not think that any children should stay for free - maybe half the price of an adult at least, I would suggest. And yes, it is different to prepare the flat for a baby, for 1 or 2 years old, for 4-6 years... I agree that there should be at least three categories. And all of them should be paid some percentage of the whole price.

I agree.  I have a spiral staircase.  It makes it unsafe for children under 4/5... I have listed it on my rules.  And mention it again when a guests book my cottage...
