does my availability to others become invisible when i have a booking pending

If someone has requested a booking with us but we haven't decided to say no yet, but would just prefer a smaller booking date, when their booking says pending does that mean it blocks my calender off to others who may like to book on those dates?

This happened to me too and my calendar went yellow during that period I was emailing suggesting we try for two weeks first when my iPad put a notification when I was not looking that I would be penalised if I did not answer in 54 seconds I quickly accepted as the guy was on a plane so watch out you don't go over your time to think period
