Try to book the room with the same price yourself as a guest and you will see the numbers. You don't need to log out from your account as a host. Also, you can adjust prices to see how their fee is adjusting.
At first when I did not know about it, I was frustrated and tried to complain to the Airbnb, but nothing changed. Luckily, this option is available but I found out about it recently.
It matters because it is better to be educated about these things than not. I have been booking our guesthouse for over 20 years. Today, in our location, the guest is paying about 30% more than the host makes which includes the host fee, the traveler fee, the cc fee and bed taxes if required. Frankly the only way you can know if you should remain in this business and continue booking to guests is to see how this all this stacks up with your own tax situation and how you can compete in this new world of a sharing economy. If you don't evaluate all associated costs, you could get yourself into trouble IMHO.
