I would think it is more fair to ask for the replacement cost of the mattress. But then again.....you should have had a waterproof cover on it. I don't know if you can get that mattress clean enough to use it again...I somehow doubt it very much.

@Gabriel10 I agree with @Monica4.  You should ask for the replacement cost.  I certainly would not want to sleep on a mattress that had had urine in it and you owe it to future guests to have a clean bed.  And yes, you should get a mattress protector that is liquid-proof for the future so you don't have this come up again (hopefully never!). 

I just checked the price of a replacement and it's about $1,000. I just hate to ask for that much when a profesional steam clean is about $75. I will go out and get a waterproof mattress cover now though. This is the first time this has happened to me so wasn't expecting it. If they say no they won't pay it what happens?
