"Strict" cancellation policy

I would like to understand why airbnb doesn't offer a very strict cancellation policy:  Full refund for cancellations made within 48 hours of booking, if the check-in date is at least 14 days away. 50% refund for cancellations made at least 7 days before check-in. No refunds for cancellations made within 7 days of check-in.  VRBO's definition of "strict" is: Travelers who cancel at least 60 days before check-in will get back 100% of the amount they've paid. If they cancel after that point, they will not get a refund.

We rent out a 4 bedroom home that sleeps 10 people.  If we get a cancellation a few months prior to the planned stay, it is very unlikely that we're able to re-book.  Can someone from airbnb please comment on this?

This is the community, not Airbnb itself.

The cancellation policy you are describing is actually the "strict" cancellation policy.

As you can see in the link, there are two more "Superstrict"  policies (30 days and 60 days) available, but they are "by invitation only to certain hosts under special circumstances"

Good to know, but how do I get an invitation?
