restore the guests PROPERTY TYPE search option instead of the stupid ROOM TYPE

I am a Super Host for 2 Villas.  My question is :-
When is Airbn going to restore the PROPERTY TYPE option under heading the Room Type when guests are searching for a particular type of property which is normal and helpful ? OR better still put the heading Room Type under Property Types ???
I can not believe Airbnb have now removed ALL the  PROPERTY TYPES options from guests search options !!
Its lodgical to go from Property Type then to Room Types - as even Hotels have various standards of room types !

What are Airbnb thinking ....... ??

As the lodgical and normal search sequence to find a property by a guest is ;-

1. where are you going ?

2. your preferred dates ?

3. number of guests?

4. number of preferred bed room and bathrooms ?

5. PROPERTY TYPE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

as in ;-

A. a room

B. an apartment / condo

C house / villa

D. a hostel/ boarding house

D. a hotel

E. resort

F. something else  - a boat / campervan / treehouse/ cave / mobil van ect

I ask - does anyone know why currently the only search options for property type is :-

ROOM TYPE - with options like - a Whole Room  OR Shared Room ect

In some location 90% of listings are apartments so why make guests look through endless listing when they are actually looking for a house/villa ????????

AIRBNB WHY  - please copy Travel Advisor/Flipkey  guest friendly search options called Property Types !!!!!!!!!!!

This stupid change by Airbnb has pissed off so many potiental guests searching unnecessary listings trying to find their preferred PROPERTY TYPE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

When is Airbnb ever going to wake and restore the changes back to at least the way they where and stack the idiot who made these changes  ???   this is very fustrating for a logical thinker ........................

I can't quite understand what you are getting at Gregory! When I do a search, the property filter comes up as...

Entire Home
Have a place to yourself

Private Room
Have your own room and share some common spaces

Shared Room
Stay in a shared space, like a common room

Cancel
See homes

Seems all pretty self-explanatory to me!!
Are you saying that the entire home bit is wrong! It should read...free standing masonary structure on an individual plot of land!!!
It does say...'Have a place to yourself' I don't see any point in dressing it up any further than that.
Your property description will say exactly the type of property you are listing, why complicate it!
Mine is actually complicated because, although it is a totaly self contained cottage entirely seperated from the main residence, I must list it as a 'private room' in order to gain approval from my local governement authority to let. The reason being, this area is clasified as R1 residential meaning one residence per allotment, no exceptions! And Gregory, I live with that just fine. The photos and the description convey exactly what the nguest is getting....not the technicalities!!
Cheers....Rob

Hi Rob - thankyou for your reply BUT you missed my piont totally -

Under the heading Options there WAS on Airbnb PROPERTY TYPE - so why was it removed ?

Now the only Options are :-

Super Hosts

Amenties

Facilities

House Rules

Host Languages

but NO PROPERTY TYPE option - it just disappeared and it was actually more important and more useful  option tool for refinding a guests search !

Do yourself a favour and checkout Flipkey which is similar to how Airbnb was when it had a Property Type option.

Having the Property Type option makes it easier to find what your actually look for as a guest -  that is the most important thing is it not ???  Rather than looking through the general heading "have the property to yourself "  when looking for a house/ villa - a guest  must now look through -  apartments/ condos - sailing boats - camper vans - caves ect when 90% of the listings are NOT houses or Villas. So why do potiental guests have to look through them all rather than as before have the option PROPERTY TYPE  to sort them out and save time and hassel !?

Again no one - not even 3 different Airbnb supervisors - understand the logic in the change - as it only makes the search process more complicated and fustrating for guests looking for a house or villa !!!!! So why was it removed when less important options where added ?  Again check out Flipkey and see the difference and how guest friendly and easy it is to use !!

Are there any answers out there about why AIRBNB became more illogical than stupid old Flipkey ???  !!!

Yeah sorry Greg, I did miss the point....I was jumping a few steps ahead of what you were talking about. That is a curious decision....but then again we have come to expect some curious decisions where Aibnb is concerned!

And the worst aspect is, we are never forewarned of many of these decisions and the consequences relating to them!

All the best...cheers.....Rob

I have the same problem as Gregory - I own a houseboat in Berlin and now people can not find it any more... it simply disappears in the millions of listings with regular rooms. How can AirBnB be petitioned to include the property type in the search filter again!!!

I agree. We have noticed a significant drop in rentals since this change.

All pf our properties are different yurt  earth house, straw house etc. Without the ability to filter through property type few people are finding our unique rentals.

Airbnb should at least put it back as a filter.

What coudl we do to lobby this? I have tried every possible route... and I do nto understand why they dont get it... after all, even Airbnb is losing out
