Hi
my title says it. until recently i was getting sms on my phone plus alerts to airbnb app on my tablet. i do not carry my tablet with me all the time and i have just missed a one month booking. both sms and push notifications are checked/ticked in my account settings.
what more can i do?
Thanks
Marion
@Marion11......I lost a booking because it sat on my dashboard for 16 hours and I never knew it was there. Marion, cracks are appearing in the system.......and as I have said in other posts there are going to be some problem times ahead. I phoned Sydney and spoke to a very pleasant lady who said she had 're-activated' my sms messages, but I have had three messages since then on my listing page that I haven't been notified of.
This is a big deal, fairly obviously cellular contact is costing Airbnb and enormous amount of money....every txt costs, and the 'backroom boys' have hit on this solution (which works fine in NY, Miami, Paris, London, in fact anywhere there is a Wifi hot spot) but in the less heavily saturated internet areas we depend on cellular....even a personal WiFi is still a cellular service.
Marion, we are being screwed to that God of economies! Airbnb knows full well there will be a lot of flack and a considerable amount of fallout from this but, It's a numbers game.....the decision has been made to discontinue cellular notifications and that is all there is to it. You will get some soothing talk...(There you go Robin, I have reset your notifications) ....but I am afraid, it's all cobblers!
Strap yourself in Marion, we are in for a rough time and you know, the worst part about it is? After following Airbnb's advice to the letter you are going to be pinged for not responding to enquiries....as though it's all our fault, not theirs.....jeeezzzuuuuussss!!!!.... cheers.....Rob
If you have a smart phone you can download the app to your phone - this way you will get push notifications to your phone. I do not have a tablet, so this is the way I do it. sms-notifications have been long gone around here.
I'm having similar problem since last year.
Reported it, they said they would look into it and then closed the request (without the problem being solved).
I'm VERY DISAPPOINTED!
This past week they sent me a text letting me know they will no longer send text notifications. I think it is a horrible idea; especially if you are not always online. I believe that if we all complain masively, they will consider reinstating it.
I am losing business already.
This is what I received last week. Didn't the message you received tell you that you could still turn it on?
"Now you'll only receive push notifcation from Airbnb, but you can turn text messages back on in your account settings"
Thank you so much, Hubert. I have done what you said and I hope that solves the problem.
Regards
Abby
Thanks for letting me know this, when I am at work I do not access my emails and have been missing bookings. I do not want to do instant book because I do like to know who is coming to my home. I am a single woman and if men book I like to get a sense of them before taking the booking. I will complain about this.
me too, though it seems intermittent, really bad news. How can I make sure AirBnB are aware of this?
This has started again and is really stressful. Is it an error or do Airbnb want to do away with this. I rely on sms alerts to my non smart phone as I work in a corrosive situation where carrying or handling a smartphone is a no go.
I have also dscovered my sms alerts have just stopped without any notification from Airbnb & have also lost quite a chunk of earnings that could have been made, it looks like we are all being made to get mobile internet, at least they could send the first request from a guest so we could be alerted, as I don't have mobile internet........
😞
Yes! I just missed a booking. My wifi is not good. An sms would have solved this problem.
I would be happy to pay sms charges if they would just send one. There must be some way to do this, maybe a yearly subscription based on use of sevices. I am not in a top tourist spot and can only take single bed bookings.
I would also be happy to let my mobile number be given to the prospective guests.
I recently booked a bnb accommodation for myself and it was very complicated. First booking was cancelled and system kept telling me I had already booked. Having already paid for flights, it was very stressful.
I looked into downloading App and got quite a bit of negative feedback. Apparently, it updates for no particular reason and, of course, uses data. Then again, I cant afford to leave my data on, so really sms is only answer.
