This keeps happening and is completely infuriating. Our friends suggest we change to booking.com but we really want to give airbnb one more chance.
what algorithms or criteria are you using to list search results? We are the only host in our immedite area and yet again our listing does not display in search results. When it is shown in search results we get bookings but it seems to me that if we dare to decline an enquiry we get punished by being removed. Ridiculous.
Hi @Nicole94, you don't get removed from declining (unless you were to decline constantly, and then you would get a warning message first I believe) but you will slip down in the search algoritms. I have noticed that when guests who ask to book regardless of it not being a good place for them and I decline, I slip down maybe 7 spots. Then I accept someone and I slip back up again. Not sure why you don't show, I have not done a search for you.
amend that, I just did search and you came up as number 2 in the listing. The position will change all the time, depending on your actions and the actions of other hosts around you. Bookings, reviews, declines, cancellations, general activity. Do your best, try not to decline, never cancel and you should be alright! Good luck.
As for me, I am often number one out of many hundred listings in my area, occasionally I am on page 2 but rarely. When I slip, I think it is because of declines or other hosts simply doing better! New hosts have a higher placing initially but that does not last, it is only to get a chance to be noticed when you start so you can get some reviews in.
Thanks for your help and have noted all your comments....how weird you were first reply as i got married in Daylesford at a house called Villa Parma i think it was...! Stayed at a place called Genoa. Tell me thats not you.
That's not me! Queensberry Pip is mine. Don't know Genoa but I love Villa Parma. Nice location for your wedding!
check this out, @Nicole94
Also, as i have read somewhere in this forums, Airbnb selectively (or randomly) shows a number of listings in a specific area, in order to avoid showing the area overcrowded with airbnb little listings.
try to add specific terms to the search in order to target your own listing, are you sure it wont appear? even if no other listings are available for the specific terms?
Hope it helps
Regards,
Harry

Thanks for your reply. I think it appears/disappears depending on how many people view it as well. To be honest im getting fed up with it as its not as easy as it should be.
@Nicole94, it is very easy and you rank extremely well! Persevere, it is worth it.
