Account highjacked by old phone number

Account highjacked by old phone number

My old phone number was registered in my account.
Somebody who got my old phone number logged in my account and hijacked my account.
Is there anyway to get back my account ?

Hi @Kazutomo0 , I'm so sorry to hear of the account issue. Did you happen to discontinue your previous phone number or was the phone stolen?

Have you tried logging into your original account by using your registered email id? It would be great if you could try out these steps and see if it helps : 👉 Unauthorised account access 👈

While we wait for tips from other hosts, have you also tried reaching out to the customer support team?

Please keep us posted!

Hi @Bhumika,

Thank you for your comment.

This is my discontinued previous phone.

So, it is understandable that the new phone number owner can login.

But, it is Airbnb's system fault that the new phone number owner can change name and email and password.

It is also the new phone number owner's fault to take over my account instead of creating new account.

For some time, I could login with my email and password, but the new phone number owner decline to change the registered number to  my new number, and he changed email and password. So, I cannot login any longer.
I did google search, and found that this issue was reported 4 years and some articles were written and Airbnb CEO was interviewed, but Airbnb has not fixed this issue.

It is unbelievable that in Airbnb 1 step verification (only phone) can change everything.
Any good company requires 2 step verification.
