Account was locked out because of phone number

I do not have access to the phone number that I have signed up with. And Airbnb refuses to just send me a verification email to verify my identity that way. If I'm not going to be able to access my account, then I want it deleted but they also won't do that because again, I don't have access to the phone number anymore. What can I do? Who can I reach out to? The support refuses to help me at all and keeps closing the chat. I do not consent to them having my information anymore and it feels borderline illegal for them to refuse to use a different verification method. I still have access to the email and I'm even willing to show them my ID that I signed up with but they still refuse. This isn't okay at all and I'm quite frustrated.
