Hi, I'm about to book an apartment in Baltimore for work purposes. My organization is tax-exempt and based in Baltimore. Is i...
I just returned from a short trip in Italy and had a terrible experience with a host who blackmailed and harassed us, asking us to shorten our trip for questioning & refusing to pay the tourist tax that was NOT listed.
I am a host myself and am still disturbed by the incident.
I brought this up to Airbnb and they passed me like a hot potato around with several unqualified Ambassador who pretend they are well trained (?!).
I need to escalate this ABOVE the ambassador level who are clearly call center staff, pretending to play cops and pope at the same time with endless apologies in their pocket, but no concrete action nor solution.
Anyone with real management skills and authority to review sensitive case? How to you get above ?
@Paule283 Interestingly out of 6 reviews of you as a guest 3 of them are very negative. Something not quite right is going on here.....
Mike,
There are hosts that are NOT proposing the listing as described... Honesty is my policy.
When you land in a place with severe plumbing issues, no internet installation and failure to bring up local taxes, what I am supposed to do?
@Paule283 many countries in Europe have local tourism tax which you pay locally on arrival . Do you not check before you travel around whether there are local tourism taxes. Should hosts mention this in their listings yes. But then not doing so doesn't mean you're not liable.
what are you asking Airbnb Support to do?
Thank you for jumping in. Airbnb told me the taxes were not listed thus, I do not have to pay them. Airbnb contacted the host to let her know that if not listed, it cannot be collected. But the review slams me for not paying it, despite being told that the taxes cannot be collected?
