Airbnb and whatsapp

Airbnb and whatsapp

Hello,

I have a self check-in today after 12:00pm

My host messaged me in advance at 11:00am and sent me the self check-in details through Whatsapp, is this normal? I've never used Airbnb before, should I ask them to resend the check-in details to Airbnb chat?

@Sarah5153  It’s very astute of you as a guest to recognize that it’s better if communications occur on the Airbnb platform. That way, if there is any question later about any details or sequencing of events, it is officially documented.

A check-in keycode, though….I can see where thousands of employees and others in the employees’ homes around the world would have access to that, and texting the code might be a bit more secure.

As far as not having the app goes…the guest can always log in under a browser on their phone.

@Sarah5153 it doesnt seem a huge issue to me. The host may have experienced guests preferring whatsapp as many do not download the app onto their phones. I would say it is more a risk for the host than you as the guest.
