I was shocked to read that Airbnb co founder Joe Gebbia is joining Elon Musk at this new government department which has already sacked 10,000 in a government witchunt - with no notice or reason.
It certainly doesn't align with the Airbnb brand of being open and welcoming to all.

@Helen3 thanks for sharing this. As I sit in far away Ghana I can only say that the goings on on the other side of various ponds and seas affect us all. Global village etc. Most of us in the thread are clearly not naive-- we know that as hosts and guests we will be affected by the presence, clout and influence of the billionaires. The personal is political as they say. Nothing in this world is neutral. I will be adding my voice to the cries of disappointment.
Passing this on as it may be of interest and be helpful with understanding the wider picture.
There has previously been the "Industrial Efficiency Act," in the 1936 era that is worthwhile reading. There is also previous Efficiency Acts under various titles as Industrial changes took place.
1936 is the era of when there was change with how Telecommunications /Wireless/ Broadcasting were transmitted so it's understandable where Joe Gebbia's Computer Science background may be incorporated and be of assistance as a contributor to any potential changes of Efficiency.
The 1930's is the same era as The Depression/ Holocaust and Medical experiments that were subsequently deemed to be criminal, and that of Errikesen/ Krueger fraud investigations.
Haldeman ( Musk's natural father's side of the family) attempt to fly with Ruth Elder across the Atlantic from New York to Paris and ended up running out of fuel only to be rescued by those on a Dutch Sailing vessel in the area was also around this era..
History repeats with Scientific experiments - note that Musk's Rockets/ satellites ( as well as others) have also encountered fails.
Those who are conducting them are required to comply with an assortment of existing Laws.
We are in the age of "The Information Revolution" which was also discussed in the 1960's - 1980's.
It is part of WEF which was formerly known as and set up as European Management Forum.
There's also discussions in historical newspaper archives and Parliamentary papers.
We have read figures from the 1980's from Professor William Pickering, Cal-Tech institute, who said 70 % of jobs would be Automated as a result of The Information Revolution.
We have concerns in relation to how many IT people were represented at the WEF in 2014 in a manner that other occupations were disadvantaged and have been subjected to unnecessary job losses.
Joe Gebbia is a Computer Scientist and we all have experienced ABB bots and challenges.
Seek and you shall find other names however part of the earlier Industrial Efficiency Act includes public participation as is required in any Democratic society.
I have stayed with AirBnB for years, but will look to its competitors now that its founder is part of DOGE, the extra-governmental organization that is pillaging and dismantling our government at the behest of and for the benefit of billionaires.
I have been an Airbnb host since 2013 and I love it! My husband and I love traveling and also hosting people, especially from abroad. This has been the perfect job, and Airbnb is such a welcoming platform that I also was shocked when I heard that the founder of Airbnb went MAGA and joined Musk with DOGE to ransack our government to find $2 trillion in cuts in order to fund their $4 trillion dollar billionaire tax cut which must be renewed this year or it expires.
I also have considered leaving Airbnb over this. Perhaps I will shut down after the summer, as we plan to go traveling again. And it may be awhile before I consider reopening. Or maybe I'll look at other platforms.
Most importantly, America should be a government by the people, for the people--not by billionaires for billionares! And Trump is not my king.

As a consumer / traveler for many years, I will be looking for other ways to find nice places to stay until Airbnb stands for its values and take a decision.
Even though I just barely signed up last month I just switched to VRBO, everyone else should too!
@Helen3 Airbnb best get a wriggle on with this issue as their competitors are letting it be known about their inclusiveness. https://partner.expediagroup.com/en-au/resources/blog/vacation-rental-inclusion-tips?
Previous Host Customer services ABB Laura Chambers did work on Inclusiveness as can be found within this CC
Maybe have a read of those topics to.
One can also of course exercise there viewpoints and submissions to their local Politicians as part of Due Processes as part of Constitutional rights enshrined since the days of the Magna Carta and as per The Bill of Rights.
Those ways may be more effective to get one's points across so it lands in Government official submissions to be heard.
@Helen427. I only mentioned the link as I got an email from that other platform yesterday, with a link to the article written from last October. Timing ..
Thanks @Frances3408
Some of us have previously championed for those who are part of and continue to be a part of the "Hidden Homeless" as it's a wider society issue with many parts to it.
