I too just encountered terrible service regarding the $720 host referral credit that I was supposed to receive. I met all the conditions. No one I talked to or messaged would give me a reasons that my credit had “expired”. I asked them to tell me when it was issued and when exactly it expired. I sent them a message with the email I received in January saying I just earned the credit and they said it expired but would not tell me any other details. They then sent a text saying “I have looked at this personally and it expired”, without telling me who it was that looked into it or any other details. After this encounter they would not call me back even though I asked to speak to someone else bc this did not make any sense. I have been a superhost for years. I would never treat a customer this way.
@Jean-And-Lane0 Did you actually get a credit? I didn't even get that far with my referral!
hi, we got an email saying we received the credit but never saw it in our acct then when I reached out to them when I couldn’t find it they told me it had already expired…
Nor did I! In fact the people o was referring were so excited with the prospects of additional revenue before I even had a chance to get them the referral code they went on the site and started to setup their place to host! So I called AirBnb and told them after much time and Conversation with this potential new host I finally had a long conversation. With them that out their minds at ease And seeing the revenue the jumped the gun on the set-up - and that same night got their first reservation! So I asked the super host agent I spoke with if they could link me to this new host, suggesting the do whatever they need to do to validate that I was the referee with this new host and that I had spent time with them to get to this point. I just wanted to get credit for the referral (only now seeing in these forums that it is a credit voucher that expires, even before receiving it in some cases!). But I felt I did have to work on this and I deserve recognition!
Far from the frozen reception I got when I inquired about fixing this - not even an attempt to satisfy me - lip service at best! The response I got made me feel like I was a crook? Like I was trying to scam them! The new hosts were not prepared to cancel their place now with 2 bookings, on for 60 days? Just to start over again so we would both benefit from the referral. Nowhere does it say they must create their listing from the link with in the referral message with code that I have to generate. Nowhere could I find anything about the program details until I generated a link for them which they could not use as they had already set up their listing. No attempt to appease me as a super host who has the opportunity to refer 3 other people with places. No acknowledgement of the work that goes into convincing someone to open their home to strangers and convince them it’s okay to do so and the time I spent helping tule understand the App and website after they signed up. It is like I was calling the County Morgue and asking for a new lease on life for one of their guests!
Shocking to have built such a big business and weathered the pandemic, only to then treat your ‘super-hosts’ with disrespect and wrecklessly ignore their requests, while providing ZERO customer service or even acknowledging the issue is real and agreeing to look into it! I just got a flat NO it won’t be done - well I guess the other referrals won’t be coming now either!
Hi @Jean-And-Lane0 , I can imagine this is frustrating. With the referral program you can earn promotional coupon credits, or "Travel Credits", to which the Travel Credit Terms&Conditions apply. I've found those T&Cs here: https://www.airbnb.com/help/article/3250
It mentions the credit expires after 30 days of issuance unless otherwise specified. Did the email you received in January mention any specific expiration date?
When we received the email about the credit it did not mention any expiration date, only a congratulations that we earned $720 credit.
