Airbnb refuses to investigate fraud

I would really appreciate any help I can get at this point. I looked at my banl statement and realized I had not recieved any payout from airbnb since the middle of June (9 guests ago)...when I contacted them, I realized that this was after the "fastpay" phone call. The representative had given me a "fastpay mastercard number" and told me all I had to do was change to that form of payout....I even called airbmb right after I got off the phone with him to verify that it was legit, and they looled into it amd verified that it WAS....Well, turns out it wasn't because now they're saying the mastercard is in my name and I need to call the bank---I told them it's not my mastercard, it's the fastpay mastercard number that your representative gave....they told me I'm a liar, told me to call my bank (how?), refused to escalate to fraud, and closed my account despite me amd my husband both telling them it needs to be investigated because it's not our card and must have been fraud. We are our thousands of dollars...when I asked the representative if that's it amd we're just out thousands of dollars because you refuse to do anything????...he responded, "unfortunately so" and hing up on us....what can we do? Please someone tell us what to do--they won't let us talk with anyone else amd said the decision has been made to do nothing!!!!!

"Fastpay phone call"?

Wait...did someone call you out of the blue about setting up Fastpay through your Airbnb account, or did you contact Airbnb and change your payout method to Fastpay? If someone contacted you, then most likely a scam and your money is probably long gone, as doubtful the original call was from Airbnb but from a scammer.

Scammers can fake the caller ID to say Airbnb if there was a number they gave you to call. This is why if someone calls you saying they are Airbnb asking for payout info or other sensitive information, or to read back a verification code they sent - ask them to send you an Airbnb support message to verify - don't use any numbers they give you or give them a verification code you received in a text.

First thing I would do is go to your Account Settings and check your login  & security and see if there are any unknown devices there. If so, then log out the device:

Then change your Airbnb password if you haven't already.

Then verify what your payout methoid is currently - I would NOT use FastPay and if that method is there delete it and setup a new payment method.

Hi @Kris-and-Wendy0

It sounds like you may have fallen victim to a scam.

Change your payout method immediately.
