We rented an Airbnb in Atlanta. A few days into our stay we returned from sight seeing and the apartment had new locks on it and all of the host's furniture was thrown in the parking garage. What was left of our personal items was also thrown in the parking garage. The only thing of mine that was not missing was the clothes I had on. My suitcase and all of my belongings were missing as well as all my medications. I tried talking to the sheriffs office and the landlord and I was told everything had been removed from the apartment. All of my items were located in the bathroom and all of it was missing. My husbands items were all there except for his Nintendo Switch and head phones that were in the living room. The host quit messaging me on the airbnb app and started texting from a personal phone. No one ever showed up to help like the host said. I started messaging Airbnb support and did not hear anything back until the next day and 3 weeks later we are still trying to get a resolution. I lost over $3000 worth of personal items and had to rent a hotel for the remainder of our trip. Airbnb nor the host was helpful at all and it is the worst experience I have ever been through. I filed a report for my missing items with the Atlanta police department to see if anything could be recovered since the landlord refused to go back into the rental to see if my items were still there. I was treated like a criminal and all i did was rent an airbnb apartment for a vacation with my husband. Airbnb is now offering me $500 which does not even cover the cost of the hotel we had to move to. Is there anything further we can do to be compensated for our lost items and motel expenses? Airbnb had us file a claim with the host but that was ignored by the host.
