Hello my name is Cheri . I have been hosting on this platform for approximately a month now . I’m Extremely disappointed with this platform!. So I got a guest for a overnight stay. My listings is in The heart of downtown Macon.Georgia. When I first joined I was super excited about hosting and was very proud of my Humble listings. I requested help from a super host who was wonderful from my profile pictures to my first booking ! Now I have been in the hospitality business for over 20 years even though everyone knows is a whole world of its own! So my first guest she was a learning experience nevertheless she was very kind. She left the listings clean but I smelled a strong smell of marijuanna. Took me a while to get the smell out but I thought I did. My next guest beg to differ the first thing he said when checking in was he could smell a scent of weed. Then he goes on to say there’s a cpl of things in the trash can ok .. so I order him a dinner had it delivered to him offered a another unit he declined. Ok. and he requested a full refund even though he stayed all night ate the dinner I even gave him  a 50 dollar gift card for his next Airbnb stay! This was all down in vain this man left  me 2 stars ! Ok shake it off my next guests was a I believe and still do a scammer! He acted werid from the booking ! Against my better judgment I still accepted him he stayed in the listing for two hours then frantically messaging and calling me saying there is something in his unit that has flared his allergies and asthma! Well this building is over 100 years old . But I keep it in tip top shape and I get it cleaned professionally everyday! I wasn’t in the area at the time but he was requesting a full refund from jump and he said he had to get a room . Well he said he was in town for a convention that I wasn’t familiar with and I accepted his request for the full refund . I got to the listings a cpl hours later to discover this man left my place worst than someone who would have stayed all night look like he used the bed and I don’t mean split in it there was definitely someone here with him! He flossed his teeth leaving debris in the sink he look like he was messing with the back of the toilet cause the knobs to fall off idk what was going on in there He watch a movie on Cinemax and used my amenities in the kitchen made a sandwich he even used the dish washer. Which was werid cause there was no dishes in there but he ran it. So I had to go threw my unit with a cleaning like someone stayed here ! And on top of all this I leave my key with a Mickey Mouse key ring attached to it. This man took my keys and left a random key that wasn’t mine “just the key “ so he intentionally took a key off his ring to leave! Well I contacted airbnb and told them this story at least 5 different times to 5 different people. They took two weeks to reimburse me 10 dollars even with my receipt of a locksmith . They didn’t care all they cared about was him and he was allowed to harass me for two weeks until I blocked him and he was allowed to leave a review which I couldn’t rebuttal and he left me one star which got my account suspended for five days . By this time I have 7 guests who all left me 5 stars one said cleanest airbnb he ever been In . So I’m asking support how is this man that I obviously pissed off by asking for half of my money  back my reimbursement for my keys . How was he able to leave a review but I couldn’t review him or rebuttal his review the customer support member told me and I quote ”she is going to kindly disengage from the conversation because she has no more information for me! So I ask her to kindly disengage my listing!! I have never in my life been so disappointed and disrespected and felt scammed before. I’m sorry for this long message but I felt it was important to lay out all the information so I could be fairly heard. Any suggestions or comments?

@Cheri343 sadly scammers seem to target new hosts. I guess you should never go against your better judgement when accepting bookings. Perhaps consider copying your listings and starting again? The reviews will stick on your profile though.

Yes, hosting could be a most 'interesting' experience. You said you been in the hospitality business for 20 years, yet surprised at the guests attracted via Airbnb thus far. Curious, were the two hosting experiences with a difference-priced clientele? Was one being a hotel vs. renting a private room clientele?
