BAD HOST

Made a booking with Darryl, a Superhost with a property in Gloucester.  I had to cancel more than 2 months prior to the reservation.  Refused to provide refund and wouldn't even refund me the pet fee, which he made me pay separately from the original booking fee.  NOT HAPPY.  If there was a way to post this so potential renters could see, I would.  Unfortunately, this is my only area for a complaint.

Hi @Dave1515

In case it helps with future bookings, you can now set your search filter to show only listings with free cancellation (under Booking Options). You're then refunded the full amount, including Airbnb's service fee. Of course, in areas with few listings, your choices are unfortunately sometimes very limited if you aplly filters.

Hi @Dave1515 when you go to make a booking it does show you the cancellation policy you book under and what the penalties are if you cancel a booking.

you are also offered travel insurance if you don't have your own.

I am not sure why you wouldn't be happy at a host for honouring the cancellation policy you booked under ?  He hasn't misled you. And it doesn't l my she him a bad host.

Why did you need to cancel? If it's a reason covered by your travel insurance use that .

I agree they should provide a refund on the pet fee .

personally I do offer to refund as a gesture of good will IF I am able to get a replacement booking . You could suggest that.
