I am looking to add a backup entry method and code that can be used if a guest is locked out. The instructions I found in the help center appear to be incorrect or out of date. Suggestions on how to do this on a desktop or mobile app?
Hi David,
Adding a lockbox is a practical solution for providing a backup entry method. Install a secure lockbox at your property and place a spare key inside. Share the lockbox code with your guest only if they are locked out, ensuring it remains secure.
Additionally, you can update your Airbnb listing's check-in instructions to include details about the lockbox as a secondary access method but don't include the code yet. This ensures a smooth experience for guests while maintaining security.
I hope this helps.
All the best,

Thank you for the suggestion. I see this as a backup entry method but not the backup entry code that Airbnb talks about in their help article. This is the link that does not appear to be current anymore. A backup entry code that Airbnb has access too is a great idea and one that I prefer over allowing someone to access a physical key, which of course is much harder to change for future security.
