Bad guests

Bad guests

Hi everyone, advice please. I recently had a guest who did not live up to her good reviews. In short, she and her friend left my place looking like a rubbish tip. They also tore one of my curtains off it’s hook and although not major damage, it took me more than an hour to fix - particularly stressful as I had a guest due! My question is - Airbnb keeps reminding me to leave a review but I don’t know what to say. I’m afraid to leave a bad review because I’m worried about the repercussions however, I want other hosts to know to be wary of this person. Suggestions please, thanks. Sonja

Hi @Sonja431 you can leave them your honest review. When writing your review just make sure to focus on your personal experience, avoid making personal attacks or offensive language. Important to be respectful and constructive in your feedback. Hope this helps.

Hello @Sonja431

Good advice from @Patricia2526 - keep emotion out and remain factual.    My guess is that they know they won't be getting a 5* star review from you I would leave it to the last possible moment to post your review as the guest will be notified as soon as you have written yours.

Remember you are leaving a review for future hosts and if your guests leaves you a bad review you will have the opportunity to a public reply just underneath hers that will set things straight.  If she says anything defamatory then you may have grounds to have this review removed but that's another battle.

And yes you will be reminded many times to leave a review by Airbnb and you will feel that pressure but just do what is best for you.

All the best

@Sonja431 , as others has stated, please leave an honest review of your guest(s). This is the only way other hosts can protect themselves and their property from unacceptable behavior/disrespectful guest(s).

I’ve just had a similar experience and I left an honest review but my guest did not leave a review, so I don’t think mine will be published. I think this is how he’s had multiple stays on Airbnb but has zero reviews. I’d like to warn others but it seems I won’t get the chance. During the review process you can select if you’d recommend them to other hosts. Does  anyone know if the selection you make is visible to other hosts even if your full review isn’t?  Thanks for the advice!

Hello @Natasha5

Your review will be published after the 14 day time limit even if your guest doesn't review you.  Good on you for leaving an honest review😊

Guests don't see their scores for communication, cleanliness and house rules - only future hosts so this part is most important to warn hosts of issues you had.  I don't believe that hosts see the part of whether you would recommend this guest to other hosts - defeats the object of asking the question in that case which is why you may see hosts saying they wouldn't welcome them back in the guest comments section.

What do you mean by selection?
