Booking blocked days

Several times we have had booking requests for one available day, checking out on a blocked day.  We have had to refuse these requests and have had comeback from potential guests asking why they can't check out on a blocked day.  How come AIRBNB allows such bookings to go ahead?  We do not have self-check in nor out.  AIRBNB then makes both dates unavailable, which seems a mild punishment.  Your advices welcomed.

Hi @Peter_Joan0

I think the issue here is that, when you look at the dates on the calendar, you have to see them as nights (not as days).

So (for example) if you leave 9 April unblocked and you block 10 April, that means guests can stay the night of 9 April (because the night of 9 April is unblocked) and check out the morning of 10 April (because only the night of 10 April is blocked, there's nothing stopping them from checking out that morning). If you don't want someone checking out on 10 April, you need to block the night before (9 April).

I hope that I understood your question correctly and that this makes sense?

There are also more advanced ways to control check-ins and check-outs, for example you could set the calendar to automatically block one or more cleaning days between bookings. You could also put blocks on specific days of the week to stop check-ins and/or check-outs on those days, or turn on professional hosting tools if you want guests to be able to stay on a specific calendar night, but not change on that date (i.e. you don't want to block it, you just don't want a check-in or check-out).

I don't know your exact situation and whether any of these more specialised options would help. You should, however, try to set up your calendar to only allow those bookings that you can actually honour. If you cancel as a host, that counts very heavily against you. Also, if you decline too many requests, it could start counting against you.

Understand what you are saying but it seems nonsensical to block an entire day when AIRBNB look at it as just for the night. Will endeavour to block the 'night' before the 'day' We want to block in future. Thanks for your help.
