Brown Recluse Infestation and Owner Denial

My family recently stayed at an Airbnb in southern IN. It was infested with brown recluses and I was bitten. We found 21 recluses in one day.

As my bite got worse, I had to seek medical care, twice so far and have been given a few prescriptions.

I sent all of this info to host and Airbnb. The owner was listed as my guest contact. She went on Facebook to a local group that she didn’t realize was full of my family and friends…oops. I have screenshots of my guest contact asking for spider prevention and control tips, acknowledging she saw “them spiders” on her property and on her deck. She also called me an attention seeking narcissist looking for a refund and denied the spiders were hers. She laughs and mocks the bite in another screenshot. She accuses me of committing fraud and trying to ruin a community.

THEN, as if the owner attacking me online wasn’t horrific enough, the host left negative feedback for my family in retaliation for speaking out about a safety concern! Airbnb did remove the feedback within 15 minutes.

So far, I have been assigned an insurance adjuster. I am working with the BBB with a complaint on host. Working with local health department. Attorney General for safe rentals next?

We are all really SHOCKED since we KNOW what we say is the truth, that the home is still available for rent. A lady with two kids had to argue for days to get them to cancel. How much proof do they need when you showed tons of photos, video, medical documents, and screenshots backing up everything….and that listing is still available. What happens when a child gets bitten?

This may get deleted too but I have shared it all on my Facebook wall publicly…because it’s WRONG.
