Can a host ask guests to feed a cat, in exchange of a discount?

Hello, potential first-timer host here. We have a house in San Francisco that we would like to Airbnb this summer but our cat will be in the house. She's an outdoor cat so not litter, just feeding her once every day or two. I could not find any information on that so help would be appreciated 🙂

I would not trust the care of my cat to paying AirBnB guests. It’s not just the feeding, but how they would treat her. If any issues happen then you also have to deal with a random AirBnB rep who may or may not be sympathetic or care about details of your arrangement with the guest.

If you need someone to look out for your cat while you are away, recommend to use a different platform where you can interview potential guests and handle communication  and payment **directly**. I just don’t think AirBnB mixes well with pet sitting.

Thanks for your reply. Our cat does not like to travel (especially by plane) so we usually have to use pet sitters. I thought that some cat lovers could be a nice guest but I see your point.

I wouldn't trust a stranger to look after my pet @Jean-Luc217

Sounds like a terrible idea to me. If you can take with you . Have the cat go to a chattery.

Thanks for your reply. Our cat is much happier when staying in her regular environment so I thought that some cat lovers could be a nice guest but I see your point.

Your cat will be happiest and safest when with its owners.

You have no guarantees as to how your guests would treat your cat/whether they would feed your cat.

you can't guarantee you will get cat lovers

and it will put people off staying with you
