Dear Community,
I am trying to verify my mobile phone number, but always get the following error "Sorry, we cannot send verification code to this number. Please make sure you input the correct mobile number."
It is a German Mobile and I have selected the correct Präfix +49. I have tried my number with a leading 0 and without it. Both doesn´t work.
Looking forward for some advice.
Thanks,
Michael
I am from Canada, using Fido, which is also the major telecom company in here. I put in my phone number trying to get a verification code, no error messages were coming up and I didn't get any text message with the code. I tried many times for the code and still no error messages. I then added another phone number. This time an error message popped up: "You have reached the max confirmation attempts. Try again later." I have been on and off trying back again in the last 10 hours, I still get the same message. I am stuck.
This is my first time trying to book through Airbnb. I am feeling frustrated. Why can't they send out verification code by SMS? Why can't they give us an option and get the verification code via email instead? I have a feeling that I likely have to go back to my favourite Expedia for hotel booking.
Hi everyone, Just to let you know I had same issue trying to use my mobile phone, then I used my land-line (home phone) and it was successful.
Best wishes,
ivan.
That's great if you only use your landline phone and never travel or have a need to communicate with guests when you are not within easy access to your landline. If you are trying to be at a higher level of professionalism when communicating with Airbnb guests, then it doesn't work at all. I have NO desire to use my personal number to interact with guests or potential guests and I already have a dedicated line set up for that. But Airbnb has made it impossible to use that number for better quality service with THEIR guests. This is one of the many reasons that Airbnb will not be the 800 lb gorilla in the short-term rental industry for very much longer.
This is still happening. T-Mobile is one of the biggest providers in the United States and considering how long I've had the number, it shouldn't be happening.
Land-line worked for me as well, despite it being completely useless in actual communication with the host.
This is a pretty serious issue that certainly would mean lost revenue for the company. Considering how we have to upload a government ID later on, the phone identity should simply be a SMS text.
Ya like ive got a list of mobile’s this is so rediculous
I've had a verifiable account and used it all over the world, for 2 years, now i cant book my trip coz i changed cell phone number. So maddening and sad.
I'm facing the same issue.
Switching the phone to other network is the only solution ?
Hi Abdul. I don´t think so, because I used to have Lycamobile and I changed to EE with the same number, and it's still not working
I have run into this same problem and attached my conversation that I between myself and customer service. Apparently Verizon, which I'm pretty sure is the largest wireless carrier in the US, is not an accepted carrier. I find it hard to believe that they've denied verification to all AirBnB customers and hosts that have a Verizon account.
The rep actually suggested that I change my provider to AT&T. Seriously, she said I should change my mobile provider so that I can give them my money? This makes zero sense.
I have T-Mobile and just downloaded the app to my new phone (with the same phone number I have had for years). The app says it doesn't recognize the device so it wants to call me an give me a -digit verification code. It keeps counting down on a 60-second time, but the call never comes. I called Airbnb. They set up a "ticket" and the rep doesn't know when they'll get back to me with a fix. First unfair treatment against Israel renters, now this! Such bull**bleep** from Airbnb!
HI
I am having same problem when trying get veficiation code to my cell number Lycamobile. It is interesting to note I did use this same cell number to book last month and received verification code text msg on the same call number! Now I am trying to book again using the same cell number but it is asking me to provide an alternate number.... absurd ! I called help line but they could not resolve the issue, in the end i had to used my home land line number and push a "confirm via call" mode to get the verification code. I am still exchaning email with the help team and hope this gets resolved. The issue of not supporing Lycamobile is not correct because I did get verification code only last month. My assumption is that there is a bug in system which needs to be fixed soon. otherwise Air BnB will lose potential customers.
I tryed 2 dutch phone numbers 1 polish number. and had 3 conversations on a phone with custumer"care". nothing works. they sugested me to wait few hours try again or put someone elses phone number or just change provider... into? wel.. i asked for a technical support. was told they dont have one. AIR B AND B is a garbage.
"You'll need to use a different phone number, we can't support this one."
I have the same problem with you.
I have to agree with all the people before me.
I am trying to validate a second phone number from the USA, which I use for basically everything from banking to business verification, and the same happens to me on Airbnb.
Telling me to change my provider or try another number, is just nonsense.
Whoever is selling, should accomodate to serve the client, not the other way around.
Airbnb wants clients or not?
Why should I change providers or get another number just for the sake of airbnb?
And how come, they cannot add a number manually into their system?
It's for me to decide which number I want to use as a contact.
If they cannot verify certain numbers, at very least, they should have a field to publish a contact and perhaps label it as unverified.
I just signed up and became frustrated with this phone number verification issue. I have a Verizon cell phone with the same number for 15+ years....and it won't verify! I've read posts where they mention that Verizon cell numbers are never approved....is this true? Giving them an ancient VOIP number doesn't help me when I am travelling (and isn't that the point?), and it cannot receive texts!
Any suggestions?
