I'm renting a house for 33 days. The owner asked and I agreed to have the remaining mini split HVAC unit installed a week after I moved in. I thought this would be a half day thing. It took 2+ days. Plus I had to sweep and mop the floors twice with the swifter I bought, wipe the place down including dirty hand prints from the vendors & found grease build up around the stove which I scrubbed off. They quickly resolved the pilot light going out on the water heater & a few other issues, but the contractor issue & cleaning is ALOT. If they were new to Airbnb I might be more understanding, but they have 2 or 3 other properties & have been hosts for 7 years.
I've asked for an adjustment on the total cost. Am I out of line for doing so?
@Christine4461 Yes, I believe you should be entitled to some amount of refund in this case.
@Christine4461 You agreed to the installment of a new HVAC.
You assumed it would be a half day installation. I’m sure you wanted to keep your reservation and you were trying to work with the host. The host can’t control the worker( how neat they are etc…) in this case while you are staying at their property.
It sounds like you didn’t ask the proper questions or get in contact with the installer before deciding to stay at their property while work is being conducted.
Hello @Christine4461, thanks for asking this question here in the community. I was wondering whether you've seen the replies from Debbie and Zheng?
