Direct Booking Site?

An ABnB host on YouTube mentioned that when someone asks for a discount they send them to their direct booking site. That seems as if it would go against ABnB's TOS to send someone messaging you thru ABnB to another booking site?

You're absolutely right it is @Kathleane0!!

Airbnb are cracking down on hosts who do this and also on hosts who ask for payments off platform.  I imagine you received the new transparency for guest directives via mail recently telling hosts that all additional fees must be disclosed on the listing and paid through Airbnb?

This host is playing with fire for sure🔥

@Joelle43 I don't remember seeing that directive in the mail. Is it also available online?

Hello @Kathleane0

Hi @Kathleane0

I agree 100% with @Joelle43. I can think of 3 reasons why this is a very bad idea, perhaps other hosts can add more:

1) It's against Airbnb's terms and conditions, as you say.

2) Many hosts here agree that a guest who starts a request by asking for discount, is not the type of guest you want (it's often just the beginning of your problems).

3) On Airbnb, bookings drive more bookings. It's not wise to teach the algorithm that guests who enquire at your listing, have a way of disappearing without booking.

Unfortunately on YouTube there's lots of dubious get rich quick scammers who claim they are Airbnb experts to sell their training courses and books @Kathleane0
