Discount on returning guest who has already requested new reservation

We have a returning guest who I offered a reduced rate on their next reservation. They have sent in a reservation request which was at the regular rate. How do I reduce that daily rate for them without cancelling the reservation to change the daily rate, then asking them to rebook?
