Reviews are one of the most discussed topics in the community because of their impact and how important they are for both guests and hosts.

 

That’s why I’d like to ask you: Do you leave a review for every single one of your guests? If so, how long after check-out do you usually write it?

Yes we have had good responses. But we have not rented out for over a year, since the new short term rental laws came in Italy.

yes I usually do write a review for all of my guests, usually the day of checkout after I've been through the house to inspect for damage etc.

not really @Paula , I've been hosting coming up on four years, its a ski resort so the traffic of snow onto the carpet is sometimes an issue, to combat that I just built a dedicated boot room through my garage with a bench and drain tile flooring, I'm putting in new flooring and carpet and hope this helps.

and its kinda inevitable that things like dishes getting broken, glasses etc I put down to wear and tear, I have had a couple of nicer cushions burnt I guess they were left on a baseboard heater, some recent guests hid a hole that somehow got punched into a shelving unit, I was able to flip it over so its on the floor side.

i recently had guests that were obviously smoking marijuana inside and there were some razor marks on the counter. I didn’t leave a review. 

I feel it is so important to leave a review if there were concerns.  I would want to know of previous problems, especially if they happened at another Airbnb.

I hear your point, @Robyn518  and @Ruth1463. It would be great to understand Renee's rationale behind this decision a bit better.

OMG.  That’s terrible.  I would definitely have left a review with scathing commentary.  A bad review helps other hosts avoid these types of bad guests.

Yes, I leave a review for every one of my guests.  I think it's as important to treat guests fairly and honestly in my reviews as it is for them to review my work.  I think this kind of communication is the the safeguard for quality and respect for both guests and hosts.
