I have been hosting for a very long time at this point. Up until the last year or two, I hadn't had any major issues with Airbnb. However starting a couple years ago, things starting getting worse with the frequency of difficult or trouble guests.
Fast forward to a recent guest who stayed in the unit that I list and he outright lied about multiple things from the moment that he arrived. I verified and confirmed with the supervisor I was working with and the documented everything stating if the guest leaves a negative review, they will remove it. The day comes for the review and it is solid 1 stars across the board and it is filled with exaggerations and lies.
Soon after the review posts I get a notification that Airbnb is going to delist my listing. I disputed the review which was denied. This isn't the first time that Airbnb has backed up guests that exaggerated details or outright described false and inaccurate information.
Libel has 4 criteria and this checks all of the boxes. Has anyone had any luck suing Airbnb or a guest? In this case, the 4 criteria for libel are all met. Also, isn't Airbnb supposed to protect the interest of their hosts from this kind of behavior?
